The heritage collections of the Brasov Ethnography Museum are considered as being unique from the point of view of authenticity and extensive in terms of the multitude of items illustrating the traditional way of life in the South-East of Transylvania, starting with the 18th century, until the beginning of the 20th century. These include artefacts reflecting an in extinction rural world, and should be regarded as genuine archive-collections of ethnological witnesses representative for the physical artifacts and intangible attributes of the South-East of Transylvania (occupations, crafts, architecture, household, home organization, furnish, traditional costume, traditional customs, generally speaking, rural life under threat of modernity). The collections also suggest the multi-ethnic character of the South-East of Transylvania, since there are German and Hungarian ethnic communities in the area. Also, the collections reflect intense and long-lasting acculturation processes in that area, with urban influence being felt earlier than in other areas of Romania.

In Scheii Braşovului s-au plămădit valori de spiritualitate românească, ale căror începuturi trebuie căutate încă de pe vremea geto-dacilor, când la "Pietrele lui Solomon", in satul dacic de altă dată supravieţuiau dârji strămoşii acestor meleaguri. Arheologia (încă puţin studiată aici) şi obiceiurile "Junilor braşoveni" (de asemenea puţin valorificate) stau mărturie pentru îndepărtatele vremuri ale continuităţii noastre. In perioada medievală românii din Schei, cu sprijinul voievozilor de peste munţi au clădit biserica şi şcoala şi au întemeiat un centru de rezistenţă spirituală capabil să reziste tuturor vitregiilor. Vechii şcheieni, care practicau un negoţ de larg răsunet cu Moldova şi Muntenia, dar ajunseseră săstrăbată Levantul, Balcanii până departe în Siria şi Egipt, au protejat prin danii lăcaşul de cultură şi învăţătură, care astăzi a devenit Complexul muzeal Scheii Braşovului. Cele aproximativ 4.000 cărţi vechi şi peste 30.000 documente precum şi numeroase obiecte muzeale stau astăzi strajă la temelia istoriei, oferind tuturor posibilitatea de cunoaştere a adevărului care se derula istoric pe aceste meleaguri.
